Industry Experience

Dr. Bang’s experience in the software industry spans leadership, software expert witness consulting, and engineering roles, with a strong focus on technology and intellectual property.

Since 2025, he has served as Software Technology Expert and CEO of Cyberonix. At Cyberonix, he leads consulting operations and provides expert services in software IP litigation and technical advising.

From 2019 to 2025, Dr. Bang was a Senior Computer Scientist and Director of Software Development at Quandary Peak Research. He served as a software expert witness in IP disputes, including patent and copyright infringement and trademark misappropriation. He also handled breach-of-contract matters and supported technical due diligence for startup investments and M&A. His work included quality evaluation, design comparison, reverse engineering, cost estimation, and failure investigation. He also led internal R&D on tools and methods for analyzing source code.

From 2015 to 2019, he worked as a Software Engineer and Researcher at Kakao Corporation in South Korea. He designed and developed Kakao’s user identity platform, which supported over 100 million users across services like KakaoTalk. In 2012, he conducted a large-scale empirical study on collaborative software design at Infosys Limited in India.

Teaching Experience

Dr. Bang is a dedicated educator with experience teaching at leading universities in Southern California. Since 2024, he has served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Southern California (USC). At USC, he teaches graduate-level courses including Software Architectures (CSCI 578) and Software Engineering (CSCI 577a).

Previously, in 2022, he was an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). At UCI, he taught the undergraduate course Software Design: Structure and Implementation (INF 122).

Litigation Experience

Dr. Bang brings extensive experience as a software technology expert in complex litigation. As head of Cyberonix, he leads a consulting practice focused on software intellectual property disputes. He has served as an expert in matters involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, and breach-of-contract claims.

His consulting work includes advising counsel on technical issues and conducting in-depth software analysis. He provides written expert reports and delivers oral testimony in depositions and trials.

Beyond litigation, Dr. Bang advises on technical due diligence for startup investments and M&A transactions. He also helps companies with software design, development, and operational consulting.
